Welcome to Bristol Catholic Players

Bristol Catholic Players is a friendly well established society, which extends a warm welcome to all new members. Each May We produce a Gilbert & Sullivan opera and during the winter we prepare a concert program and perform for Fund raising events for local organisation.

The origins of Bristol Catholic Players lie unsuprisingly in the congregation of a Catholic church. The Society was founded in 1953 by Monsignor Buckley, who remained an active member of the society until he sadly passed away in 2003. As the Society has grown, it has diversified and welcomed new members of all religions.

We have playing and non playing members of all ages - a number of families having active members from two generations ! It really does give the society a family feel.

The society prides itself on being very self suffcient.

We are fortunate to benefit from beautiful scenery and artwork produced by the late Frank Shipsides, local artist and life long friend of Monsignor Buckley. We are fortunate that Franks son Pat and his wife Anna have taken over the task of making sure that the scenery is refreshed or updated each year.

All of our costumes are made by members of the society under the watchful eye of Gertrude Scanlon!

If you are interested in taking to the stage, come and see us ! New members are always welcome !
